THE BRIEF

Jeremy Gardner believes in a better world and he understands that is it his (and our) responsibility to take action if we want to change things for the better.

Jeremy approached Twin Peaks Family to discuss his wealth's purpose and how he could start to express passions and deploy resources to do good in the world and grow his wealth, so he could keep having impact along the way.

HIS VISION

As an entrepreneurial investor, Jeremy knew he could have greater impact if he used his deep knowledge of crypto investments to support the best founders in the space - especially the ones aligned with his vision that blockchain technology can be an extremely powerful tool for positive and even transformative social change.

UNDERSTANDING

Some see Jeremy as a misfit. The truth is, he is a game changer, and Twin Peaks Family exists to ensure that world-changing visions come to fruition. We understood that Jeremy neither fit nor wanted a traditional VC firm or crypto hedge fund from Silicon Valley. He wanted diversity, and to create something unique.

UNDERSTANDING

Some see Jeremy as a misfit. The truth is, he is a game changer, and Twin Peaks Family exists to ensure that world-changing. visions come to ensure that world-changing visions come to fruition. We understood that Jeremy neither fit nor wanted a traditional VC firm or crypto hedge fund from Silicon Valley. He wanted diversity, and to create something unique.

INTEGRATION

Bá Minuzzi is the first Latina to be a founder and sole GP of a venture capital firm in Silicon Valley. Born and raised in Brazil, Bá has faced the challenges of working in a male-dominated sector since her early days in finance. Like Jeremy, she is a big believer that to see the change we need to take action. Bá is now based in San Francisco, where she has been lauded by mainstream publications for "breaking all the rules" and "rocking male-dominated Silicon Valley." More importantly, in addition to managing her biotech fund BABEL Ventures, Bá is a crypto investor and vocal advocate of gender equality.

SOLUTION

Our solution is always an expression of the visionary’s purpose and passion, shaped in a way to generate positive change in the world while creating wealth and redefining its meaning.

In this case, we wanted to combine Jeremy’s knowledge of crypto and blockchain technology, his excitement for angel investments, his desire for impact, and his commitment to women's empowerment.

FRUITION

Jeremy and Bá realized they have complimentary skills and dispositions. By joining forces, their impact would be far more expansive and enduring. After engaging in a collaborative process of articulating their values, reviewing their goals, and discussing their needs, they were able to create: AUSUM VENTURES.

THE RESULTS

In early 2018, Ausum Ventures was launched with Bá Minuzzi and Jeremy Gardner as cofounders and equal partners. Their first investment vehicle is Ausum Blockchain Fund, a hybrid venture and hedge fund comprised of early-stage startups and crypto-assets for social good.

Ausum has grown as a firm beyond Bá and Jeremy. Orest Byskosh joined the team in the summer of 2018 and is now Ausum's head of research, regularly producing in-depth "deep dive" analysis of firms in the final stages of the due diligence process. To stay true to Ausum's impact investing thesis, the team relies on Aymard Dudok de Wit as an advisor.

Ausum Blockchain Fund invested in 14 early-stage companies in its first year, and 80% of these have a minority and/or woman founder. Heading into 2019, Ausum Ventures has an extremely aligned and engaged team, and is looking forward to investing in blockchain projects that will be as massively successful as they will be impactful.
